COACH’S QUOTE:

“The team delivered another dominant performance, continuing to show the growth and progress throughout the season,” Sarah Fawcett said. “With our best statistical performance so far, we controlled possession, created opportunities, and finished the match with around 28 shots on goal. The performance was a strong reflection of the team’s commitment, intensity, and ability to execute the style of play we have been building toward. While we continue to push for more efficiency in the final third, the chances created and overall control of the game were encouraging signs. The focus now turns to carrying this momentum into the next match and continuing to build on the standards we have set.”

HOW IT HAPPENED:

First Half:

    • 00:30 – Sirens began the match with a penalty kick a few feet outside of the goal box, with RAGE defense stopping a shot and gaining possession afterwards.
    • 2:00 – RAGE fired back with offensive pressure in a breakaway by Grace Sykes.
    • 2:55 – Goal by Addison Posey, giving RAGE an early lead!
    • 5:40 – RAGE continued pressing with a corner. The team earned several shots in the following 10 minutes.
    • 18:50 – First Sirens corner, which did not generate a shot.
    • 25:30 – Park had the first of many close shots on goal.
    • RAGE did a great job of pressing Sirens whenever they gained possession, leading to a lot of quick steals. The strategy kept the ball in Siren territory for the majority of the half.
    • 30:55 – Sydney Head saved the first Siren shot on goal.
    • 37:07 – Sykes had a close shot missing on the left side of the goal.

RAGE played a dominant half, controlling the ball and scoring less than 3 minutes into the match. As the half developed, RAGE earned several other scoring opportunities and adjusted well to the absence of Rylan Park. RAGE did a great job of slowing down the ball to keep offensive control, and quickening their pace to create shots on goal. Sirens had several offensive runs and one corner but were unable to secure any legitimate scoring opportunities.

Second Half:

    • 45:00 – The ball immediately started on the Sirens side with Addison Posey bringing the ball downfield to the goal box.
    • 46:37 – First RAGE corner of the half, with a close shot by Park missing over the crossbar in the 47th minute.
    • Sirens gained some offensive steam in the 49th minute with 2 shots that were saved by Lauren Racioppi.
    • During the first 30 minutes of the half, Sirens maintained more even possession with RAGE, although RAGE earned corners in the 58th, 66th, and 76th minute. Park also earned close shots on goal in the 56th and 60th minute.
    • 79:50 – Olivia Maragos dribbled past 3 defenders to score RAGE’s second goal of the match!
    • 83:00 – Sirens tried to fire back with a corner but kicked the ball over their offense, landing out of bounds.
    • RAGE pressed offensively for the remainder of the match in an attempt to get a third goal. Marta Pelegrin and Katherine Tato both earned shots in the 87th and 88th minute.

RAGE dominated the beginning and end of the match in both goal scoring and overall possession. During the beginning of the second half, Sirens elevated their game, leading to competitive play. However, RAGE ultimately created better opportunities within the goal box, leading to their second goal. With this second win in a row, RAGE moved into 5th place in the league. They are ranked directly behind Cargo, who RAGE will be playing at home this Thursday.
