RAGE VS OLYMPIC

Pleasanton RAGE welcomed fans to the first RAGE NIGHT of the season.

FINAL SCORE: Olympic Club 2, Pleasanton Rage 0. 

Negoesco Stadium: RAGE held possession for the majority of the game against the Olympic Club, but unfortunately was unable to do more. The attempts were there, but nothing was able to get past the goalie. The Olympic Club did a great job of finishing, which pushed them ahead of RAGE’s great ball control to win 2-0. 

COACH’S QUOTE: 

After the game, head Coach Sarah Fawcett said, “We controlled the game from start to finish, dominated possession, created the better chances—but at the end of the day, it’s goals that win matches. We were the better team on the ball, but credit to them for taking their chances. We have to be more clinical in the final third. That’s the difference at this level.” 

HOW IT HAPPENED: 

First Half: 

  • Olympic Club scored in the first half, increasing the intensity for RAGE.  
  • RAGE played hard, winning one-vs.-ones and keeping the ball in Olympic Club’s end. 
  • Final score at the end of the first half was Olympic 1, RAGE 0. 

Second Half:

  • RAGE played hard to keep possession of the ball or to win it back from the Olympic club.
  • With 30:15 left in the second half, Trinidad Quiroz (15) brought the ball and crossed it right in front of the goal. Kamryn Rosa was there for the rebound and was blocked by an Olympic player in front of the goal. 
  • Trinidad Quiroz, Eileen Xu, and Kamryn Rosa played tight on the left side, bringing the ball up to create scoring opportunities. 
  • Alejandra Melendez (9) played strong on the left side. She worked hard to keep the ball in RAGE possession and created several amazing scoring opportunities. 
  • At 13:19, Quiroz (15) had a shot that hit the crossbar and bounced back into play 
  • The Olympic Club’s second goal was scored around 12 minutes from a long, wide ball on the left side that just slipped past Head’s fingers.  2-0 
  • RAGE fought hard for the last 10 minutes. They held possession for the majority of the half and had some great chances, but just couldn’t complete them. Final Score: 2-0 The Olympic Club. 

UP NEXT: 

 Pleasanton RAGE will be back home at Stanford Medicine Complex on Saturday, June 7th, for their PRIDE night against SF Glens. The pre-game events start at 5pm and kick-off follows at 6pm. There will be food trucks, a DJ, and free pride accessories (flags, stickers, and more). As well as that, there is a limited edition RAGE PRIDE night shirt being sold!
