FINAL SCORE: California Storm 0 , Pleasanton RAGE 2.

Davis Legacy Soccer Fields: From a slow start, the RAGE fought hard and conquered the California Storm. The Storm had the majority of the possession for the game, showing that what matters most is getting the ball in the back of the net! Taking advantage of opportunities is everything and the RAGE did it perfectly to come through with the win.

COACH’S QUOTE:

“Tonight was a historic moment for our team—beating California Storm for the first time is a testament to how far we’ve come. This group showed incredible grit, resilience, and unity from the first whistle to the last. Everyone played their part, whether they were on the field, on the bench, or behind the scenes. We asked for a complete team performance, and that’s exactly what we got. The players stayed disciplined, executed the game plan, and showed a real desire to compete at every moment. There’s so much to be proud of in this performance, and it’s a win we’ll carry with us as motivation for the rest of the season.” says Head Coach Sarah Fawcett

HOW IT HAPPENED:

First Half:

  • The first minute of the game brought an amazing save by Sydney Head! Diving to protect the goal and was cleared by another defender.
  • At 39:41, Head had another save that led to a Storm corner. This was the first corner kick of the game.
  • 31:46, Trinidad Quiroz (15) fought a defender for a one-on-one opportunity with the goal. She shot it high into the air, where the goalie got a touch on it and possessed it.
  • 32:33, Storm had a breakaway that was stopped by a RAGE defender who cleared the ball off the side.
  • Storm’s second corner kick at 23:00 was stopped by RAGE defense before it even got close to the goal.
  • RAGE GOAL SCORED AT 13:42! A long ball from the right side that rebounded off the goalie for the perfect set-up shot! 1-0 RAGE

The first half was hard-fought, but was majority possessed by the California Storm. They had more shots and opportunities than the RAGE. The ball stayed around the middle a lot, but the RAGE took advantage of the opportunities they were given and scored!

Second Half

    • 31:24, RAGE shot wide of the goal.
    • At 22:27, RAGE had a corner kick. It went high and wide over the goal out of bounds.
    • With 2:50 remaining, the RAGE had a free kick about 20 yards from the box. It was unsuccessful and the ball was cleared.
    • RAGE GOAL at 1:27! The ball was masterfully maneuvered through defense in a two-vs-one with a shot across the body to score the goal by Dani Osejo. 2-0 RAGE.

The second half had similar pacing as the first, but the RAGE gained a little bit more time with possession. The sun was setting, which made filming the game hard. The ball generally stayed around the middle of the field with a team occasionally pushing it to one side or the other.
